What an honor it was to be asked to contribute to Massage Envy Magazine. I first heard about Massage Envy, Inc. when I became a certified Arthritis Instructor. While doing some fundraising, I learned they were donating half of their proceeds collected from massages...

Strength Training and Parkinson’s Disease
by Lori Michiel | Jun 16, 2014
I recently read an article in the research section of The Journal on Active Aging on the International Council of Active Aging (ICAA) website. What struck me about this and many other articles about exercise and Parkinson's disease (PD) is that they all seem to seek...
Does Happiness Equate with Being More Fit?
by Lori Michiel | Jun 1, 2014
I was having a conversation recently with a friend about whether we are born happy or acquire the skill. We agreed that it could work both ways. Then, the subject regarding exercise came up and how hard it is for people to begin a fitness program. She said she never...

by Lori Michiel | May 15, 2014
Question: My children keep telling me to stand straight and stop sticking my neck out. I wasn't aware I was doing this, although I started having trouble with my neck and shoulders hurting about six months ago. Please explain this to me. Answer: This is commonly known...
An Exercise Prescription for What Ages Us
by Lori Michiel | May 1, 2014
As I approach my 60th birthday, I am reminded by what I read in the paper, view online or in my fitness magazines, that in a few years there will be more than 40 million adults aged 65 and over living in the United States, and within the next 40 to 50 years, that...

Have you ever given a presentation or lecture to a networking group or conference? Do you research the industry sector, in order to prepare for your presentation? Do you know what your audience expects of you? Are you a storyteller? Are you engaging and animated...
The Power of Patience
by Lori Michiel | Apr 1, 2014
Patience: It's difficult to have and preserve. Don't even get me started on traffic, or the lines at Starbucks. We all deal with the art of waiting the best we can. What I do notice is that I find myself getting used to the pace of things, when I have been around it a...
MINDFULNESS IN THE KITCHEN
by Lori Michiel | Mar 17, 2014
Food Food Food Vibrations (sung to the tune of Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys) Our bodies are energy, vibrating at different levels of speed; foods also have vibrational frequencies. The kinds of foods that vibrate at higher levels are living uncooked fruits,...
Pain, Pain Go Away (Part II)
by Lori Michiel | Mar 1, 2014
Last month some of you wrote me and asked how to manage your unwanted pain, when returning to an exercise routine after an illness, injury, or just plain downtime. Here are those questions and my answers to them: 1. If I feel stiff in the morning, can I still...

Lori and her team provide personal training for my elderly mother who has Alzheimer's and dementia, as part of her overall care. They customized a program addressing her needs, including balance and mobility. She really likes her two trainers and looks forward to her sessions. I highly recommend Lori Michiel Fitness!

Now I can walk better. Also before I was going up the stairs one step at the time. Now I can go up and down by holding from both rails without a problem. I can go up 120 steps and more.
I continue doing all the exercises and they have given me more strength in all my body.
There aren't any words to say how much Lori and her trainer, therapist changed my life forever. Until today, I do the exercises they taught me.
I will thank them forever.
They changed my life. They can change your life too.

Sam Strain – Trainer
Customer care is of the utmost concern to her. She is very knowledgeable about personal training and the workings of the functional human body from a bio-mechanical point of view. She is compassionate about all her clients as they all get her personal touch.
I would feel most comfortable recommending her to anyone that is in need of her services.
Respectfully,

After my mom’s strokes, we knew we needed to help her become active and improve her balance. She didn’t have a good habit of any exercise and none of the local senior classes were appropriate for her.
I’m so glad we called Lori Michiel Fitness. Lori came to the house, met with my mom, listened to her needs, took a careful medical history and matched her with a trainer. He is a wonderful trainer who comes to the house three times a week to help support mom’s recovery. The trainer really understands senior fitness. He gives the whole family peace of mind that we are doing what we can to prevent another fall and keep mom active. Lori checks in with us regularly to make sure the therapy continues to be appropriate for mom. We’re very grateful to her.
