Our Approach
We treat you with care, dignity and respect. Lori Michiel Fitness understands and implements the best approach to help you reach your fitness goals, while maintaining safety as the first priority.
Experience the Difference
Lori Michiel Fitness does not believe in the “one size fits all – factory-style” workout. Our trained instructors and physical therapists have a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology used to design an exercise program specifically for you.

Fitness for Seniors
Even small doses of exercise can make a difference in the life of someone who is sedentary or challenged with a chronic condition. Research proves that even moderate exercise can improve the quality of life and create healthy habits. Our adaptive programs and corrective exercise training have proven to have a positive effect on individuals with arthritis, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, in stroke recovery and other musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Lori Michiel Fitness helps seniors achieve:
- Greater Independence and Social Harmony
- Improved Balance and Reduced Chance of Injury
- Increased Flexibility and Circulation
- Better Posture and Stronger Bones
- Pre rehab before joint replacement surgery for a quicker recovery
The first visit begins with an assessment, including a review of medical history, and a “free” training session. This information is used to develop a customized workout plan tailored to achieve both short- and long-term goals.
Communication Style
Lori Michiel Fitness trainers communicate in terms that are uncomplicated and easy to remember on days you are not training with us. Mature clients may not have experience with basic exercise terminology used in gyms or in classes. We keep language and instruction simple and straightforward, avoiding the use of jargon.
Our clients’ learning styles vary. Visual and auditory impairments can further exacerbate the issue. Effective cueing, an important communication skill, can mean the difference between a twisted knee or a fall and broken hip. If a trainer does not have effective cueing skills (and a personality that resonates with yours), it may be harder to learn exercises that will improve your life.
The Extra Step
In addition to our full complement of services, Lori will communicate personally with clients’ designated healthcare professionals (physician[s] and therapist[s]) to improve outcomes.
