Grateful Rhythms
by Lori Michiel | Nov 1, 2024
As we ease into the holiday season, remember all that you are thankful for and keep those thoughts every day. Here are some words of wisdom from Dear Abby that can make this easier. Recently, after some of the trials and tribulations my vibrant 90-year-old husband has...
He’s One of the Lucky Ones
by Lori Michiel | Sep 1, 2024
Who accompanies you to the doctor and interprets what they say? This summer, I visited the ER once and I accompanied my husband three times. After each visit, we followed up with our primary care doctor. At this point in my life, with my 40 years of experience in...
How to Successfully Return to Your Exercise Routine
by Lori Michiel | Jul 1, 2024
Even the most resolute workout warriors need to take a break from time to time. What is the best way to restart after that break? When I chose to resume my walking routine after hip surgery, I meticulously planned everything. I aimed to wake up at 5:30 AM to be out...

Are You Content with Your Self-Image as a Senior?
by Lori Michiel | Apr 1, 2024
We’re not the same person we were when we were younger. Wisdom, experience and gratitude mold us differently in our later years. I didn’t like how I looked when I was a teenager. I was self-conscious about my appearance. When going to the beach with my friends, I wore...
Exploring the Importance and Components of an Initial Assessment
by Lori Michiel | Mar 1, 2024
Following the proverb (in the realm of fitness): we’re simply guessing without assessing. When I began my business in 2006, just after I completed my fitness instructor certification, my former business colleague told me she wanted to be my first client. I recall...
How Do You Express Yourself?
by Lori Michiel | Feb 1, 2024
Do you lead with your heart and emotions, or are you practical? There is a rhythm to knowing how to choose. Wisdom and the ability to communicate well came to me later in life. I used to think that I could make decisions quickly and be satisfied with the outcome. I am...
Solving the Problem of Pain vs. Pleasure
by Lori Michiel | Jan 1, 2024
What perceptions can we change about how we frame discomfort and gratification? Getting to the “other side of pain” is not easy. I was told it was a good thing I was in shape before my hip replacement surgery. I had the procedure because of osteoarthritis pain and...
Kind Words from our Clients
Sam Strain – Trainer
Customer care is of the utmost concern to her. She is very knowledgeable about personal training and the workings of the functional human body from a bio-mechanical point of view. She is compassionate about all her clients as they all get her personal touch.
I would feel most comfortable recommending her to anyone that is in need of her services.

After my mom’s strokes, we knew we needed to help her become active and improve her balance. She didn’t have a good habit of any exercise and none of the local senior classes were appropriate for her.
I’m so glad we called Lori Michiel Fitness. Lori came to the house, met with my mom, listened to her needs, took a careful medical history and matched her with a trainer. He is a wonderful trainer who comes to the house three times a week to help support mom’s recovery. The trainer really understands senior fitness. He gives the whole family peace of mind that we are doing what we can to prevent another fall and keep mom active. Lori checks in with us regularly to make sure the therapy continues to be appropriate for mom. We’re very grateful to her.

I just wanted to send the biggest thank you for joining us at The Variel. You put on such an excellent class and I know our contact at The Variel was really impressed.
I can't say enough good things about your class. You were knowledgeable, engaging, and FUN! I've worked with a number of fitness instructors over the years -- some are good and some are standout, and you quickly revealed yourself to be standout.
I look forward to working with you again in the future, and thanks for donating your time to our special community this past Saturday.
Thanks,
Eileen, Executive Director Parkinson's Resource Organization

Lori,
You're amazing...you can pivot in a moment's flash... if you could bottle that productivity and sell it to seniors you could buy California, despite the fact that you already help many people and make their lives better!! Stay YOU!!!
