by Lori Michiel | Oct 1, 2015
An effective trainer wears many hats -- friend, teacher, motivator and disciplinarian. Does your trainer meet these criteria? “The less you do, the worse you feel, and the less you get out of life”, states Michael Gordon, MD, professor at the University of Toronto....
Put the Squeeze on Joint Pain
by Lori Michiel | Sep 1, 2015
Stay active - isometric exercises can help, even during painful flares When I wake up some mornings, I can feel my hip or knee starting to talk to me; and the conversation doesn't go very well. Of course the voice is louder and more irritating on cold, damp days but...
Your Genetic Blueprint
by Lori Michiel | Aug 3, 2015
I was never quite sure if, genetically, I am built like my mom, dad or their siblings. When I had a weight problem in high school, I was told I was built just like my Aunt Millie, a little zaftig -buxom. Ooh, how I hated to hear those words. Thankfully after lots of...
Osteoporosis Treatments – Get a Bone Density Scan
by Lori Michiel | Jul 1, 2015
Years ago I worked for a Home Healthcare agency. As part of my responsibility I would visit skilled nursing facilities (SNF), some of you may know them as nursing homes. This particular day, one of the facilities was offering a "free" bone scan to convey awareness...
How do you improve your Body Satisfaction|Dissatisfaction?
by Lori Michiel | May 31, 2015
If you live in Southern California, you cannot rely on the calendar to tell you whether it's time to shed your turtleneck sweaters and long sleeves or just go with the flow. In fact, when I started writing this blog in April, the weather was quite erratic. I wouldn't...

The debate rages on. Stretching style can vary depending on many factors. Do you want to stretch to limber up before a run, exercise class or a swim? Or maybe you just feel tight all the time and it limits you. Part two of a two-part article.Read Part 1 After...

Here’s to Your Heart!
by Lori Michiel | Feb 3, 2015
When my mind wants to relax, I read a book or the newspaper, but ONLY the Wall Street Journal. I also read a lot of health and fitness magazines. One of my favorite publications is Prevention magazine. It is loaded with great information. I find their articles either...
Osteoarthritis – What Can You Do About It?
by Lori Michiel | Jan 8, 2015
I am one in five adults battling arthritis. Osteoarthritis, also known as OA, is one of the most common forms of arthritis that affect the entire joint involving the cartilage, joint lining, ligaments and underlying bone. As these tissues wear out, it leads to pain...

Now I can walk better. Also before I was going up the stairs one step at the time. Now I can go up and down by holding from both rails without a problem. I can go up 120 steps and more.
I continue doing all the exercises and they have given me more strength in all my body.
There aren't any words to say how much Lori and her trainer, therapist changed my life forever. Until today, I do the exercises they taught me.
I will thank them forever.
They changed my life. They can change your life too.

Sam Strain – Trainer
Customer care is of the utmost concern to her. She is very knowledgeable about personal training and the workings of the functional human body from a bio-mechanical point of view. She is compassionate about all her clients as they all get her personal touch.
I would feel most comfortable recommending her to anyone that is in need of her services.
Respectfully,

After my mom’s strokes, we knew we needed to help her become active and improve her balance. She didn’t have a good habit of any exercise and none of the local senior classes were appropriate for her.
I’m so glad we called Lori Michiel Fitness. Lori came to the house, met with my mom, listened to her needs, took a careful medical history and matched her with a trainer. He is a wonderful trainer who comes to the house three times a week to help support mom’s recovery. The trainer really understands senior fitness. He gives the whole family peace of mind that we are doing what we can to prevent another fall and keep mom active. Lori checks in with us regularly to make sure the therapy continues to be appropriate for mom. We’re very grateful to her.

I just wanted to send the biggest thank you for joining us at The Variel. You put on such an excellent class and I know our contact at The Variel was really impressed.
I can't say enough good things about your class. You were knowledgeable, engaging, and FUN! I've worked with a number of fitness instructors over the years -- some are good and some are standout, and you quickly revealed yourself to be standout.
I look forward to working with you again in the future, and thanks for donating your time to our special community this past Saturday.
Thanks,
Eileen, Executive Director Parkinson's Resource Organization

Lori,
You're amazing...you can pivot in a moment's flash... if you could bottle that productivity and sell it to seniors you could buy California, despite the fact that you already help many people and make their lives better!! Stay YOU!!!
