by Lori Michiel | May 1, 2012
Join the club. Unfortunately, our bodies don’t come with a lifetime warranty, and as we age, many of us will face the challenge of dealing with osteoarthritis. You have two choices when joint pain starts affecting your life: let it control you, or maintain your...

Contraindicated Exercises: What You Need To Know
by Lori Michiel | Apr 1, 2012
“Check with your doctor before beginning an exercise regime.” It’s likely you’ve seen this before and perhaps ignored it…and that could be to your detriment, especially if you suffer from medical conditions and/or take medication that should preclude certain...
Remember This??
by Lori Michiel | Mar 19, 2012
The next time you walk into a room and can’t recall why you went there, don’t fret. Blame the doorway itself. Yup! New research from the University of Notre Dame finds that doorways serve as “event boundaries.” In other words, when you walk through one, your mind...

No Pain, No Gain?
by Lori Michiel | Feb 29, 2012
Surely you’ve heard the expression “no pain, no gain” with respect to exercise…but do you realize that’s not true? For some time, a myth has been perpetrated that if your muscles aren’t hurting, it means you’re not having a quality workout. Nothing could be farther...
Guest Post: If You Don’t Take Care Of Your Body Where Will You Live?
by Lori Michiel | Feb 15, 2012
Every New Year's resolution and fitness trainer reminds us to exercise, but where is the best place to do it? At HOME, of course! Why bother with their gym and their rules when you can have your very own personal and private one? You can choose to have to carve out...
Love Your Heart
by Lori Michiel | Feb 7, 2012
The occasion of Valentine’s Day seems an appropriate time to think about your heart…the muscle that has the critical job of circulating blood around your body, not the status of your love life. Here are a few heart facts that may surprise you: Your heart beats about...
A New You in 2012
by Lori Michiel | Jan 1, 2012
Did you make any resolutions to begin the New Year? If so, I doubt very much that retaining muscle was one of them…but it should be, especially if you’re over 50. Sarcopenia, which comes from the Greek word meaning “poverty of the flesh,” is the wasting away of muscle...

by Lori Michiel | Dec 15, 2011
Despite the fact that almost everyone is aware of the importance hydration has to overall health, you might be surprised to discover how many people—maybe even you—are dehydrated. Is this a big deal? It can be, and it’s something that needs to be tracked more closely...

Lori,
You're amazing...you can pivot in a moment's flash... if you could bottle that productivity and sell it to seniors you could buy California, despite the fact that you already help many people and make their lives better!! Stay YOU!!!

Lori and her team provide personal training for my elderly mother who has Alzheimer's and dementia, as part of her overall care. They customized a program addressing her needs, including balance and mobility. She really likes her two trainers and looks forward to her sessions. I highly recommend Lori Michiel Fitness!

I had experience with a couple of personal trainers, one good, one not as good, before I met you. I understand that you have a number of trainers that work for you that you can choose from. You made a good choice for me. My trainer was energetic, intelligent and pleasant, all traits that appeal to me and that keep me motivated and interested.
Something else that my trainer did that was different from my previous experiences: she tried different types or more variety of exercises with me, (similar goal or purpose, just different exercise) which works well for me because I can get bored or lose motivation pretty easily doing the same thing over and over again. Also, I became familiar with more or different types of equipment.
Anyway, if I come across someone who might benefit from a personal trainer, I will not hesitate to refer such person to you.
Thank you,
Glen

Your fitness program has really helped my mom!! I saw her this week and she is stronger and her balance has really improved. She got up from her chair so much easier!!!
Best news, she's very happy that she started working out and she adores Sam and Rita. She actually looks forward to it.
It's great to have a job that makes a difference in people’s lives. What a blessing you have been to all of us. Thank you so so much for all you do.

Sam Strain – Trainer
Customer care is of the utmost concern to her. She is very knowledgeable about personal training and the workings of the functional human body from a bio-mechanical point of view. She is compassionate about all her clients as they all get her personal touch.
I would feel most comfortable recommending her to anyone that is in need of her services.
Respectfully,

After my mom’s strokes, we knew we needed to help her become active and improve her balance. She didn’t have a good habit of any exercise and none of the local senior classes were appropriate for her.
I’m so glad we called Lori Michiel Fitness. Lori came to the house, met with my mom, listened to her needs, took a careful medical history and matched her with a trainer. He is a wonderful trainer who comes to the house three times a week to help support mom’s recovery. The trainer really understands senior fitness. He gives the whole family peace of mind that we are doing what we can to prevent another fall and keep mom active. Lori checks in with us regularly to make sure the therapy continues to be appropriate for mom. We’re very grateful to her.
