Jessica has been certified as a group exercise instructor since 1998 and by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) since 1995. She has specialized in working with older adults both one-on-one and in a group.
Since 1997 she has been a SilverSneakers instructor at various Los Angeles locations. She worked for 13 years as a field representative for SilverSneakers, bringing program awareness to California communities along with overseeing and evaluating other SilverSneakers instructors.
She completed an extensive Certification in Fitness Instruction program at UCLA Extension in 1998 which included courses in exercise physiology, strength training, applied anatomy and nutrition.
Jessica experienced the transformative power of fitness after dealing with several health and medical issues in the mid-90’s. After her medical issues were resolved, she began working out regularly at a nearby Jewish Community Center (JCC). The regular workouts made her feel better and stronger than she had in years, and she wanted to share this feeling and knowledge with others. She earned the required certifications needed to work, teach and train at the same JCC. When the SilverSneakers program started there, she was asked to be the instructor and immediately fell in love with working with older adults. Jessica treasures the stories from class members on how her instruction has improved their balance, strength, health, and quality of life. The icing on the cake is how much fun she’s had doing what she loves and how many great friends she’s made.
