Kristel’s fitness career started with a deep passion for helping those coping with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities improve their quality of life a with a consistent and achievable fitness program. With a strong background in special populations, she has focused her expertise and attention on the aging population. Kristel concentrates on taking a client’s strengths and gradually building upon them to achieve their ultimate goals. Her programs encompass all the components of fitness and include cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, balance and flexibility.
She has worked as a Fitness Manager for a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Thousand Oaks and has been teaching and training the older adult population for most of her career. She has worked with clients with Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and paralysis. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Pierce College, Mission College and College of the Canyons, and is teaching Older Adult Classes for the Encore Department at Pierce College.
Kristel has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s in Public Health from California State University, Northridge. She has fitness certifications from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
She worked in the Center of Achievement at Pierce College during her undergraduate program. She is trained in the FallProof Program and utilizes their evidence-based program to improve dynamic balance and gait.
She looks forward to helping older adults reach their goals and will be there with support every step of the way.
